My photo on today's Boston Metro Cover

I often have cover photos in the Boston Metro but this one I feel is special, nearly 40 years in the making so I wanted to share it on my blog.

Those are Bruins players getting a ride in a police cruiser

I was there as the Boston Bruins brought the Stanley Cup home this morning. Here are some images.

Covering the Bruins Crowd

As a photojournalist you have to really find yourself in the middle of the story in order to tell it properly. In this case, I had to find myself within the crowd of thousands of hysterically cheering Bruins fans as they celebrated their team’s Stanley Cup victory so that I could document it for the paper. I had my eyes and camera on the crowd and my ears tuned in to my police scanner, which I listened to through earphones in case there was any major incident. The night went by with no major problems except for one moment when dozens of rowdy fans attempted to tip over a bus. Riot police quickly responded with raised batons and rubber pellet guns and I was there, in the middle of the feuding sides, just to get the perfect shot and hoping not to get hit by a pellet or baton.

The Bruins are the talk of the Town!

As a member of the Boston Media there's no way to avoid the current talk of the town, the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals and all the hype surrounding the team. Every single Boston media outlet has been all Bruins nearly all the time. Today I photographed the fans as the Bruins left Boston for Vancouver to play in the fifth game of the Stanley cup finals vs. the Canucks.

Tornadoes touch down in Massachusetts

I had to go cover the Tornadoes devastation in Western Massachusetts. I couldn't let such a story pass me by. Looks like I had a busy day today which began with me following Sarah Palin around Boston starting at 8am and ended with me photographing the Tornado torn Western Massachusetts at 8pm. These images are from Monson, Massachusetts that along with Springfield are among the hardest hit areas.

Sarah Palin in Boston

I would have much rather been in Western Massachusetts covering the tornado damage in Springfield today but unfortunately I had to be in Boston to photograph Sarah Palin touring stops along the Freedom Trail.
